Whiskey Barbecue Sauce

I got this recipe from the internet originally. This is the evolution:


3/4 cup good whiskey
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup ketchup
1 T worchestire sauce
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
3 cloves of garlic, smashed
1 T dijon mustard

Juice of 1 lemon

Take the first seven ingredients and put them in a small saucepan. Put it on low heat and let it simmer for about 30-45 minutes. What you want is the taste of the whiskey without the fiery kick of the alcohol. Take it off the heat and add the lemon juice.

Serve with a smoked pork butt.
