Snow Cream

It snowed tonight.

So I made snow cream.  Where did I get the recipe?  I remember it from a Laura Ingalls Wilder book.  That I read 30+ years ago.

Snow Cream

Fresh Snow
Half and Half

I had the six year old mix this all together and we ate it.  Everyone liked it.

Sometimes I surprise me with my brilliance

I have mentioned before that they have opened a Krispy Kreme near me.  Being a fan of hot doughnuts now, when the red neon sign is one, Ima stopping to get the liquid yeasty sweet deliciousness that is a hot doughnut.

But it has been REAAAALLY cold of late.  So cold that my doughnuts may not be warm when I get them home.  So the last time I got some hot doughnuts now, guess what I did to keep them warm ?

Put them on the seat warmer set to high.  They were perfect when I got them home to my family.

Yuja Cha

I find that a steaming mug of yujacha is really a nice way to fight cold weather.

Yohboh calls it jelly tea. It is really like a marmalade that you dissolve in hot water.  Lately, I have been doing half plum and half citron.

I find the plum is a little too sweet and the citron is a nice counterbalance.

Yohboh likes the ginger tea.  It is very spicy and excellent when you have a cold.

Beef and Noodles

This was leftover pot roast with some stew meat and egg noodles.  It was yummy.  I got the idea from late night TV watching.  Diners Drive ins and Dives showed a place that served something like this with a side of mashed potatoes.

They can cut through leather and rope!

Winter Meal

A winter meal to me means mashed potatoes.  Proper mashed potatoes made with THREE different kinds of dairy products.

A few weeks ago, Chuy refused to eat sub standard mashed potatoes.  I was so proud!

True Squash Confessions

So I still have an obscene amount of squash, so I roast it off and put it in anything and everything I cook.

This includes chili mac.
